All Things Tea

I find that tea is not only a great way to unwind from the day. But tea also, has many added benefits that can aid in our overall good health. One of my favorite blends at the end of the day is Fennel seeds and Chamomile. This combination is really nice and flavorful. Fennel seeds has a subtle black licorice taste that helps with gas and to easy digestion. As for chamomile it is a well know herb that needs very little introduction especially when it comes to wanting to relax. Fennel Seeds: Some health benefits:  Helps with improving appetite and digestion, bloating, colic, and it can relive stomach cramping. Hair: Is great to add to hair and scalp treatments for hair loss and hair strengthening. Due to its antioxidant properties and rich nutritional content. Healthy Foodie

Hello my fellow Healthy Foodie! If you are anything like me. You try to make healthy food choices throughout the week to include your snacks. It is always nice to have a quick tasty snack to throw in your bag or in your pocket while on the go. Because, the reality for many of us is that we do not always have time to sit down to a balance meal and let’s be honest. Sometimes we just want the things we probably shouldn’t have, and you know what? That’s ok sometimes! I would like for this to be a space where we can share our triumphs and challenges while we are on the hunt for healthy tasty food. I’ll leave you all with this. Always read the ingredients everything that looks health isn’t healthy. My healthy snack of choice for this week is dried Mangos and bananas. What’s yours? What I like about this brand is not only does it have great ingredients and taste good. It comes individually wrapped.

Immune boosting grocery list

My Immune-Boosting Grocery List

My Immune-Boosting Grocery List. Mayor Bill de Blasio announces plans to fully reopen NYC by July 1st. Now, while there are many different opinions on how and if this should happen, the fact of the matter is it’s happening. Life in our new reality, must move forward. People often forget that while your mask is important, i.e what’s worn outside your body – what goes inside of your body is much more important. Eating meals that include nutritious food strengthens your immune system, preparing your body to win any fight, with any virus. As a stylist, I have to be in constant contact with people – travelling, coming within 6 ft of a model etc. So I make sure to eat with intention. And it’s honestly very easy to incorporate foods & herbs that strengthen your immune system, into every meal! Here’s a sneak peak at my Grocery Shopping List: Spinach – great for salads, pastas, juices Kale – salads, burgers Broccoli – alone, baked potatoes, pasta Blueberries – oatmeal, smoothies, pancakes Pineapples  Oranges (citrus fruits & juices) Mango – great alone, in salsas, cous cous, salads Cucumber Tomatos Cilantro – great for salads, sauces, salsas, tacos, rice dishes Papaya  Strawberries  Raspberries  Cranberries

Solo Vacation

Solo Vacations aren’t Scary, they’re Necessary

Solo Vacations In 2019, I was overworked, tired and sick of people. Every morning, I woke up 6 am, grabbed a cup of coffee and packed myself like a damn sardine on the C train, and spent the next 35 minutes with my face sitting under a grown mans underarm gripping the top rail. I then walked 2 blocks up 34th street dodging bodies, bikes and cars, swiped my badge into my work building and sat in sea of cubicles for next 7 hours.  After 5 years, NYC had officially gotten on my nerves. I needed space.  One day, about 2 weeks before my 29th birthday, I’d decided that was it. I’m taking a damn vacation! I sat at my desk and booked a ticket to Barbados. Scrolled over to my AirBnB app and booked a room – all within an hour. I didn’t ask anyone to come or try to plan a trip. In fact, I wanted to be alone! Far far away. And it was the best decision I’d made all year. Sometimes, the best thing to do is disconnect. I won’t lie, the days before leaving for Barbados I was nervous! I’d never travelled alone internationally before. What if

Meditation

Meditation for Beginners

“Meditation is a practice where an individual uses a technique – such as mindfulness, or focusing the mind on a particular object, thought, or activity – to train attention and awareness, and achieve a mentally clear and emotionally calm and stable state.”   If you’ve ever tried meditating, you know that this is easier said than done. Speaking from experience, my mind almost immediately begins to wander. “What time is it?” “I’m hungry” “I wonder if he saw my text, I haven’t heard my phone” – I spend 10 minutes fighting off thoughts, fears and projections. Which frustrates me, and makes me feel like it’s impossible. This is where people begin to feel defeated and quit before giving it a real chance. The key to meditation is consistency. You probably will not figure out the meaning to life the first or even 5th time. The goal is to remain consistent and intentional. At the beginning of the year I set a goal of 15 minutes, 3 days a week. This helps me bring more structure to the process and make the ritual more intentional. My hope, is that my brain and body will become accustomed to silence and focus.
